ECU programming & cloning in Eastbourne & CoventryReplacement ECUs that actually start the car

Clone, program or set up a used ECU across Eastbourne, Sussex, Coventry and the Midlands. We quote after we see the part numbers — and we refuse jobs that will brick a donor.

Want a tune, not a clone? Mobile remapping. File only? Trade portal.

What we offer

Recovery and replacement — not a Stage 1

Common

ECU cloning

Copy a known-good (or failed-but-readable) ECU onto a donor unit so the car keeps its immobiliser and coding.

Quoted

Used / virgin ECU

Prepare a second-hand ECU so it can be fitted — only when the tool chain and vehicle allow it.

Platform-led

Programming

Flash or update control units after replacement. Not the same as a performance remap.

Required

Honest refusals

Locked, encrypted or already-dead modules sometimes cannot be cloned. We say no instead of bricking a donor.

Workflow

How an ECU job works

  1. 01

    Send ECU + vehicle

Make, model, year, ECU part numbers (photos of labels) and whether the car still starts.

  2. 02

    We confirm if we can

You get a yes, a no, or “bench job — send the units”. Some work cannot be done on the driveway.

  3. 03

    On site or bench

Mobile visit in Eastbourne, Sussex, Coventry or the Midlands — or you post the ECUs if we ask.

  4. 04

    Test before we leave

Start, immobiliser, dash warnings. If something is still wrong we tell you the next step.

Why Apex

We will not guess a locked processor.

Two bases

Eastbourne and Coventry. Check the live coverage map or we will tell you if it is a bench job.

Not a 20-minute job

Allow a proper window. Cloning and first-start checks take time.

Ownership / provenance

We need to know the car and the parts are yours to work on. Stolen or “no questions” ECUs are refused.

Not a Stage 1

This page is replacement and recovery. For power/economy maps use remapping.

FAQ

Programming & cloning questions

Is this the same as remapping?
No. Programming and cloning get a replacement or damaged ECU talking to the car. Remapping changes calibration for power or economy. Different tools, different risk.
Do you cover Eastbourne and Coventry?
Yes for mobile work. Some ECUs have to come off the car and go on the bench — we will say that before you book.
Can you clone any ECU?
No. Newer locked processors, damaged flash, or missing donor data can make a clone impossible. Send part numbers first.
I bought a used ECU off eBay — will it just plug in?
Almost never. It usually needs cloning or virgin/sync work. Buy the correct part number and keep the old unit until we finish.

Got part numbers and a dead ECU?

Photo the labels on the old and new units and send the vehicle details. We will say if it is a mobile visit or a bench job.
